About Rich Potter
Rich became a below the knee amputee in 2019 after an 18 month battle with sepsis. After overcoming huge amounts of adversity including recurring infections, chronic pain and poor mental health, Rich is using his experiences to embark on a new career as a motivational speaker.
After three years at physical rehabilitation with the Military, Rich was told he would never run again. In 2022, Rich was selected to be part of Team UK for the Invictus Games and in 2023 he won three medals in Dusseldorf, most notably, a gold medal in the 100m sprint. In October & November 2024, he earned a world record by becoming the first and only disabled person to complete the Snowman trek in Bhutan which is lovingly billed as ‘the most difficult trek in the world’.
Rich has had a wonderfully diverse career that has taken him all over the world which included a deployment to the Middle East with the US Special Forces as a Contracts Officer. He is proud of earning a spot in the history books but it’s his passion for disability rights that keeps him going. Fixated with serving his country, Rich was elected as a District Councillor in 2021 where he continues to improve the lives of the local residents.
Rich is married to Ellie, a primary school teacher and they adopted their little boy from Norfolk County Council in 2021.
